Looking for a fun, easy way to boost your little eater’s energy? Here’s a quick recipe packed with protein and essential nutrients to help your kids (and you) get through the day with no problem! This recipe contains peanut butter and yogurt so we recommend serving at 6-9 months.
Here’s what you’ll need:
1 banana
1 avocado
1 tsp flax seeds
4 tbsp plain Greek yogurt
1 tbsp creamy peanut butter
Optional: 1 tbsp plain granola ground into a fine powder.
Here’s what you’ll do:
- Add all of the above ingredients to the 1-Step Food Maker Deluxe.
- Press "Blend" for 30 seconds.
- For toddlers and experienced eaters: Scoop the puree into mini yogurt drop molds. If you don’t have yogurt drop molds, pour the mixture into a piping bag and line a tray with parchment paper. Create small bite sized yogurt drops and freeze up to 3 months!
DO NOT offer frozen yogurt drops to babies and new eaters as these may be a choking hazard. You can serve this to baby without freezing as a power packed puree!
Want to switch it up? Replace avocado with strawberries!
Enjoy!
Is Greek yogurt healthy for babies?
Absolutely, but keep in mind that milk and dairy allergies are more common in little ones under 3 years of age. Once you’ve made sure that your little one is safe to eat lactose, implementing greek yogurt into their diet can be a rich source of protein, vitamins, and calcium. Plain Greek yogurt that contains live cultures is the best option for creating the healthiest snack, and these baby yogurt drops are here to help! Our yogurt drops recipe is packed not only with the benefits of Greek yogurt, but also includes other healthy fats, protein, and oils that are important for a growing baby.
What are the benefits of flax seeds for babies?
If you’re wondering how to make yogurt drops even more nutrient-rich for your little one, look no further than the power of flax seeds! Adding flax seeds to your homemade yogurt drops for babies offers a powerful boost that includes protein, iron, and antioxidants that are important for your baby’s growth. Also present in flax seeds are powerful omega 3s and lignans that support your little one’s immune system, helping them to stay healthy and strong. These Greek yogurt drops combine the benefits of flax seeds with even more healthy foods like banana, avocado, and peanut butter to create a delicious, healthy treat.
How long does Greek yogurt last in the fridge and freezer?
Knowing how long any dairy product lasts can be a little tricky, and these baby yogurt drops are no exception. By staying within the right windows of time for keeping this delicious treat fresh, you’ll guarantee a healthier, tastier treat for your little one! We recommend using and eating any refrigerated Greek yogurt within two weeks upon opening; secondly, we suggest eating these frozen yogurt drops for babies within two months of storage.
